Fr. Mark St. John Parish Mission Statement

Called in faith in Baptism, we, the members of the Parish family of St. John, Cromwell, unite in the celebration of the Liturgy.

In joyful spirit we give witness to our Roman Catholic faith through Perpetual Eucharist Adoration and through sharing in Christ’s mission by proclaiming His word, building His community, and serving His people.

By working together we strive to make the presence and love of Jesus Christ known and felt by all.

News & Events

CYO Basketball
Liza Roach, the Youth and Young Adult Minister for the Diocese of Norwich, has informed the pastors and coaches in the CYO basketball program that there are new directives for CYO basketball. The new directives include a requirement that a CYO team must have a majority of parishioners to be considered a CYO team. This was also a requirement in the old directives and the new directives increase the number of parishioners to be considered a CYO team. Last year, we were unable to meet the former requirement with respect to the number of parishioners on a team.

The new directives also state that if the number of parishioners on a team is not met, the team would not be approved by the Diocese to be a CYO team. In addition, if a team did not receive approval to be a CYO team from the Diocese, there is no insurance coverage. This was confirmed by the insurance agent for the Parish.

Therefore, St. John’s will not be having a CYO program for 2018-2019.

Joel Feehan is retiring as the coordinator and as a coach for St. John’s CYO basketball program. The Parish family thanks Joel for his years of service. His approach of working with and developing fundamental skills in every girl and boy that participated in the program is to be admired. Thank you, Joel !

St. John Women's Military Whist
The St. John Women’s Group is sponsoring a Military Whist on Thursday, October 25 in the Church Hall. This is a very enjoyable evening for men and women of our parish along with followers of Kevin Welch as he travels throughout the state calling these fun games. You can make up a table for 4 or come on your own and be included in the fun. The entrance fee is $6 per person, which includes a ticket to possibly win one of the many door prizes. You may also try your luck with a 50/50 ticket or a raffle ticket for great prizes that will be drawn at the end of the evening. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6pm with the whist starting promptly at 7pm.

St. John Women's Blanket Making
Have fun with old friends, new friends and acquaintances while knotting blankets to donate to those in need. While you are here you can think about possible Christmas shopping for others or yourself with our mini-craft fair. The event will be held on November 8 at 7pm—9pm in the Church Hall. Expect a good time—you won’t be disappointed.
