What is R. C. I. A.?

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process whereby those interested in learning about the Catholic faith come together on a weekly basis to learn about the scriptures and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and at the same time, to discover where God is present in their lives.

The process is designed for those adults (and children over the age of seven)  who are:

  • Unbaptized
  • Baptized in another Christian tradition
  • Baptized Catholic, but with no further religious training or sacraments.

Here at St. John Church, our adult sessions meet on Sunday mornings  8:30 a.m. and our children's sessions meet on separately at a convenient time.

Interested in Becoming Catholic?

If you have visited St. John Church and celebrated Liturgy with this community, you must have had a sense of the joy we experience when we gather together in prayer and worship.  People come to St. John Church to celebrate, be nourished, and to share their gifts with one another and all those this parish is called to serve.

There are 1600 households who are registered members of St. John.  Over 400 parishioners are involved in ministry here.

Many Catholics have re-discovered the rich treasures of the Catholic faith tradition at St. John.

We are deeply rooted in a conviction that God is at work in all people, and that there is a path for every person -- whether one has been part of another faith tradition or not --

We are so very grateful for the faith tradition that has blessed us as Catholics that we are eager to share this community of blessings with all who might be seeking a renewed journey toward God with us.

We deeply believe that it is God, in Jesus, who draws us together for celebration, community and service.

If you are sensing that God is drawing you, and you are wondering about the joys and blessings we experience together, we would be most grateful to share our journey with you.  Please feel free to explore your questions by calling Fr. Raymond at (860) 635-5590 or by dropping him a note borkr@sbcglobal.net

May Our Lord guide us all to a place where we can find the greatest peace and the support of community in our life's journey!
